This Texas course presents an admirable example of the elbow type.  Graded carries of the mesquite confront the player, but a beautifully undulating green presents its longest face to the second shot of the courageous driver.  The dotted lines show how the timid player may avoid any trouble from the teeing-ground, but after doing so it is likely that he again will elect to play safely, taking three to get home rather than attempt an even more hazardous shot than which faced him at the start.
